CHERCHELL (شرشال)

We have arrived in the late afternoon with Nora and her friends in the small fishing port of Cherchell. We were registered by the police and allowed to stay in the port, but later the army showed up and kicked us out from there. Our new friends tried to help us and they were calling some other friends at a police station in Tipaza to solve the troubles, same time, one man came and offered us to stay next to his house. Abboul, a local respected fisherman, was very friendly and helpful, he showed us around and invited us for the tea in his favorite street café. The next morning, we got a lovely surprise from him – breakfast delivered to our truck. After that, we took a walk with Abboul through the city rich in history. Under the names Iol and Caesarea, it was formerly a Phoenician, Carthaginian, and Roman colony and the capital of the kingdoms of Numidia and Mauretania. We have also visited two nice museums. It was again a very pleasant and warm stay on the Algerian coast.
