MT ULUDAĞ

Mt. Uludağ is the highest mountain in the Marmara region. Its highest peak is Kartaltepe at an elevation of 2543 meters. It was known as the Mysian Olympus and in the Middle Ages, it contained hermitages and monasteries linked to the resistance of numerous monks to the policy of the iconoclast emperors and then to a latent opposition to the urban Constantinopolitan monasticism. We took one of the world’s longest cable cars (8,2 km, 🎫 300 TRY/return) to reach the famous ski resort Oteller (1810 m). Then we took another lift to Tutyeli (🎫 150 TRY/return) at the elevation of 2108 meters. We did not have so much time left, so we did only a short refreshing hike around Oteller and Tutyeli.
