Just a few kilometers out of Nizwa, you can do an easy and short off-roading side trip that offers some imposing cliffs, much dust, and the chance to explore the ruins of Tanuf village. We drove around a dusty winding track dotted with acacia trees while goats roam amongst the rocks. Wadi was unfortunately dry this time of the year. So, after a quick visit, we made another short stop at Tanuf village on the way out, which was badly damaged and subsequently abandoned during the Jabal Akhdar Wars in the 1950s.
