KYSUCE VILLAGE

The open-air museum of Kysuce Village (entrance 5 EUR) is located near the village Nová Bystrica in the beautiful countryside surrounding of protected area Kysuce, in the mountains Kysucká Highlands. One of the main reasons for village creation was the construction of a new water reservoir Nová Bystrica. Its first task was to save the monuments of folk architecture of the villages namely Riečnica and Harvelka. In the village is located 34 buildings, mainly residential houses and farm buildings, a pub from Korna, 2 mills, and a bricked chapel from Zborov nad Bystricou. Part of the museum is also the Historic Forest Railway which uses a unique system of switchbacks to overcome the local steep inclination (return ticket, 1 km / 4 EUR).
