ODONTOS RAILWAY

Traditionally known in Greece as ”Odontotos,” which means ”the one with the teeth,” a technological marvel at the time of its inauguration in 1896, is the rack railway connecting the small seaside town of Diakopto in the northern Peloponnese, with Kalavryta, a mountain village with a rich history that is one of the most popular ski resorts in Greece. The small modern train climbs from sea level to a height of 750 meters through Vouraikos Gorge. The 22 kilometers journey through stunning nature, leafy forests, waterfalls, and tunnels takes around an hour (🎟️ – return 19 EUR).
