SKAGEN & GRENEN

Before going to Hirtshals for boarding our Smiryl Lines ferry to Iceland we made a short visit to Skagen and Grenen. Our last overnight in Denmark was in its northernmost point, Grenen, which hosts a unique natural phenomenon. Here, two seas meet, namely the Skagerrak and the Kattegat; and the collision of the waves is clearly visible. As the large beach expanse at the tip of Grenen is constantly moving, there are frequent occurrences of lagoons attracting wading birds. In the morning on the way to Hirtshals, we made shortstop in Skagen – a small colorful port town at the north end of Denmark’s Jutland peninsula.
