TÓRSHAVN

Our sailing to Iceland has started on May 11 from Hirtshals in Denmark. We took the only ferry connection from Europe to Iceland with Smiryl Lines around the Shetland Islands (British territory with last European roaming signal) and we have arrived on May 13 to the Faroe Islands. We had a break here for 6 hours, so it gave us enough time to explore Tórshavn – the capital city of Faroe Islands. It’s known for its old town, Tinganes, crammed with wooden turf-roofed houses on a small peninsula. Just a few steps from there we found Tórshavn Cathedral, rebuilt in the 19th century. Local boutiques dot the main shopping strip (Niels Finsens gota), where we got some maps from the information office and local SIM card from nearby Foroya Tele shop (97 DKK / 30 days with 2 GB of data). We took also some pictures of our ship from the cargo harbor.
