AWASH NP

Awash National Park is located in central Ethiopia, situated in the Great Rift Valley between the Oromia and Afar regions, approximately 225 km from Addis Ababa. Geographically, it is characterised by a semi-arid climate, grasslands, savannas, and shrubs, with altitudes ranging from 712 meters to 2007 meters at Mount Fentale volcano. The park (๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ600 ETB) is known for its biodiversity, the Awash River, waterfalls, and hot springs. It is home to a wide array of wildlife, including the Beisa oryx, Soemmerring’s gazelle, and various monkey species. And the more expansive Awash Valley is a significant fossil site, famous for discoveries such as the hominid “Lucy”.
