HADZABE TRIBE

The Hadza, or Hadzabe, are a protected hunter-gatherer Tanzanian indigenous ethnic group, primarily residing in northern Tanzania, near Lake Eyasi in the central Rift Valley and in the neighbouring Serengeti Plateau. They are one of the last remaining indigenous groups in Africa to maintain a traditional way of life centred on hunting and gathering, shunning modern agriculture and social structures.

The Hadza are known for their friendly nature and willingness to share their culture. However, it’s important to remember that hunting is a part of their daily life, and we happily spent an hour with them hunting with bows and arrows, foraging for food, and learning about medicinal plants, while also witnessing fire-making with traditional methods.

We took a car for 100 USD from Karatu and paid the guide 130 USD to arrange the visit to the Hadzabe and Datoga tribes. It was a full-day trip, and after that, we finally drove towards Arusha.
