Our visit to Peyrieras Reptile Reserve felt like stepping into a completely different world—one where nature takes centre stage in the most fascinating ways. Tucked along the road between Antananarivo and Andasibe, this small but remarkable reserve is a paradise for wildlife lovers. What makes it special isn’t just the variety, but how close you can get to the animals. For the first time, we saw chameleons up close—tiny, colourful, and almost unreal in their detail. Some blended perfectly into branches, while others stood out in bright greens and reds. The reserve is also home to geckos, frogs, and butterflies, each more unusual than the last. Despite its modest size, Peyrieras (🎟️30,000 MGA, guide 30,000 MGA) offers a rich introduction to Madagascar’s unique biodiversity. It’s not a place for long hikes or grand landscapes, but rather for slowing down and noticing the small, incredible details of nature.
