We spent 12 days in Nairobi fixing our truck. The original plan was to change the engine oil, as we had already done everything before the last break. However, as usual, we found many other things that stopped working or broke on their own. We repaired the window nets, the leaking fuel pipe of the generator, and changed the rear shock absorbers, front tyres, and front tie rod links. It was a real challenge to change front callipers and fix some furniture in the truck. The most time-consuming task was finding spare parts in small shops around Nairobi.
To our misfortune, we discovered that the generator’s starting battery had failed after four months of storage in Nairobi. But we were unable to buy a new one. Local dealers attempted to sell us old batteries or second-hand products, which did not meet our criteria. We couldn’t even believe it, but no battery passed the battery test. We grew tired of searching for it, so we installed new wiring to enable starting the generator without the battery. We hope to be able to purchase a new battery in another country.
On the last day, we picked up our tyre from Kingsway Tyres in Nairobi, which they had fixed after it was damaged during a rim change the last time. It wasn’t easy to deal with them, but in the end we managed to put our tyre onto a new rim.
