SINGIDA

Singida is a town in central Tanzania known for its two Rift Valley lakes, Lake Singidani and Lake Kindai. These lakes are Important Bird Areas, attracting numerous birds, including pelicans and flamingos. While not a major tourist destination, Singida served us as a stopover point to repair our rim. Around 17:00, we took a boda-boda to the city centre (5000 TZS) to find a money changer. Unfortunately, all banks closed that day earlier; nobody knew the reason. So we did the money change the next day on our departure.

This saline lake, situated just west of Singida town, is known for its birdlife, including pelicans and flamingos, particularly when the water levels are good. We parked on its shores next to the Regency Hotel, which features a swimming pool, and after Mwanza, the first acceptable restaurant.
