The drive from Antananarivo to Andasibe turned out to be just as memorable as the destination itself.
Covering roughly 140 km, the journey usually takes about 4 to 5 hoursโbut it feels much shorter thanks to the ever-changing scenery. Leaving the busy hills of the capital behind, the road gradually winds through lush landscapes, small villages, and stretches of rainforest that hint at the biodiversity waiting ahead. Along the way, stops like Peyrieras Reptile Reserve added a welcome pause, breaking up the drive with close encounters with Madagascarโs unique wildlife.
The road can be a bit uneven at times, but thatโs part of the experience. Itโs less about rushing and more about taking it all inโthe shifting colours of the highlands, the roadside markets, and the quiet rhythm of rural life. By the time we reached Andasibe, surrounded by dense forest and fresh air, it felt like we had already begun the adventure long before arriving.
