The drive from Thaba Bosiu to Semonkong was a stunning mountain journey of roughly 120 kilometres, which took us about 3.5 hours on a surprisingly perfect tar road. The route climbed into Lesotho’s high-altitude landscapes, crossing dramatic mountain ranges including the Thaba Putsoa range, where peaks rise above 3,000 metres and passes reach almost 2,800 metres.
We were lucky to have excellent sunny weather, giving us sweeping views over deep valleys, dramatic gorges, and endless mountain landscapes. Along the way, traditional Basotho villages dotted the steep slopes, adding an authentic touch to an already spectacular drive through the Mountain Kingdom.
