DRIVE TO RANOMAFANA

After we visited the Sahambavy Tea Plantation, we followed a bumpy dirt road back to the main road, where our scenic journey to Ranomafana began. Although the distance was only around 60 kilometres, the drive took nearly three hours, a reminder that in Madagascar, travel is often measured more by road conditions than by distance.

Along the way, the landscape gradually transformed from the rolling, tea-covered hills of the highlands into the dense, humid rainforest of the eastern escarpment. Leaving the cooler uplands behind, we joined the RN25. We navigated its winding roads as they descended into increasingly lush surroundings, with thick vegetation, misty slopes, and tropical greenery signalling our approach to Ranomafana.
