RIYADH – II. (الرياض)

We made a short stop in Riyadh to refill our water and meet some friends from before. In the afternoon, we decided to visit the Royal Saudi Air Force Museum (Saqer Al-Jazirah Aviation Museum), which showcases some of the oldest Saudia airline jets, helicopters, and flawless tales of Riyadh’s air force from the 1920s to the present.

After that, we walked to the opposite Souq Alawalien to experience the traditional Najdi Market. Well, it was pretty far from anything authentic, but still, we had a lovely walk through the market, with some folklore performances and small shops selling traditional goods and fast food.

Later, we decided to visit the famous Boulevard City, one of the most important destinations of the Riyadh season, just next to the entertainment complex Boulevard World (something like Global Village in Dubai). Riyadh Season is one of the world’s most significant winter entertainment events. It includes gardens, a dance fountain, several cafes, and local and global restaurants. It operates only during winter and hosts top regional and international brand stores. The Garden hub zone contains many fast-food restaurants and theatres for artistic and singing performances.

Our last evening stop was U Walk, known as University Avenue, another popular open-market complex with trendy restaurants, cafes, bowling alleys, billiards, cinemas, and luxurious shops. It has a 900-meter-long promenade stretching along Prince Turki Al-Awal Street.
