SVÄTÝ KŘÍŽ CHURCH

We made a short stop at the magnificent church in Svaty Kriz. It is one of the largest wooden constructions in Central Europe. Its ground plan has the shape of a cross and is 43 meters long. This church was transported from one of the villages that are now flooded under the Liptovska Mara dam. The church dates from 1693. In 1774 it was rebuilt in 8 months to its present design by a master carpenter Jozef Lang. There is no entrance fee, but the old lady will strictly ask you for a “donation” (1 EUR).
