We drove to the Hargeisa livestock market, a major livestock trading hub located on the southeastern outskirts of the city. We found a local “strong and tough” woman, who was ready to guide us through and arrange some photos (10 USD) for us; otherwise, the locals would eat us alive.
It is a busy, traditional area famous for camel, sheep, and goat trading. It’s a vibrant market where vendors sell meat, seeds, and other farm goods, along with a large butcher section. A goat could cost around 40 USD, a cow around 200 USD, with camels often the most expensive, costing from 600 USD to 1,000 USD.
